Local Bus Ridership

Summary: Bus ridership on Red Wing’s local Hiawatha Bus Transit line dropped almost in half in the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic and has not yet fully recovered. In 2023, road construction and a change in bus routes may have led to an additional small decline in ridership between 2022 and 2023. Dial-A-Ride has the largest ridership, more than any one permanent route.

Details: This graph shows annual ridership on the Hiawathaland Transit bus lines: red route, blue route, green route, Dial-A-Ride, and total ridership. Data signifies every individual ride, not unique users.
