Home Ownership Rate by Race

Summary: Red Wing’s racial gap in homeownership is narrowing and at a rate faster than that of Minnesota overall. This is a positive trend for our city, but the work needs to continue until the gap is gone. Generations of implicit and explicit discrimination policies and practices across the nation, among other factors, have contributed to creating the gap.

Housing Ownership Rate by Education

Summary: Home ownership is correlated with educational attainment. Eighty-two percent of us with a bachelor’s degree or higher are homeowners, compared to 52% of us with less than a high school diploma who are homeowners.
