Highest Level of Educational Attainment Among Red Wing Residents

Summary: For one-third of us, a high school diploma (or equivalent) is our highest formal educational degree. Two-thirds of us have additional formal education. 11% of us have a 2-year degree, and for 18% of us, a 4-year degree is the highest. Nearly 10 percent of us have a graduate or professional degree.

Details: This graph shows the highest formal educational degree attained for the Red Wing population who are aged 25 years or older.

Percent of the Population with High School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or Higher

Summary: The percentage of us with a high-school degree or higher (almost 93%) is similar to that of the county and state. Our percentage with a Bachelor’s degree (almost 28%) is growing but still behind the state as a whole (38%).

Percent of the Population with High School Diploma or Higher by Race

Summary: The percentage of us who identify as a person of color with a high school degree is 68%. This reflects a significant disparity compared to the white population (almost 96%). Improvements to overall systems across our city, state, and nation can help erase this gap.

Details: The graph shows information for the Red Wing population aged 25 years or older. Due to some smaller racial/ethnic population group sizes, data has been rolled up to “Populations of Color.” Hispanic/Latino data is collected as an ethnicity (not a race) by the U.S. Census and, therefore, is reported separately. As our community gets more diverse, population groups will be larger and will be reported separately.
